At one point, kitchens had silverware drawers, maybe a dish strainer, and possibly a canister to hold the big spoons. But today the possibilities are endless when it comes to kitchen storage. Some of the more common items are spice racks, shelf inserts, storage canisters, and my personal favorite, lid holders. These items have made kitchens more organized and 100% more functional.
Any approach towards taming the beast that your kitchen has become needs to be measured, both figuratively, do not go overboard with your ideas, simplicity is better and primary to our equation, literally measure the existing space. After all, you can't fit a bowling ball into a marble pouch. When measuring the existing storage space available in your kitchen, focus more on the empty areas.
One of the main benefits of using glass jars for storage purposes is that you can easily see what is inside them. Unlike tin canisters or even solid-colored plastic containers, you can easily see what is inside. Instead of wasting your time opening canister after canister to find the item you need, you can save time when you use glass jars.
