South African up and comers Die Antwoord, have created a buzz in the music scene. My first impression of Die Antwoords music was ANNOYING. But out of curiosity, I went back for a third and fourth listen and it surprisingly found a place in my music electronic collection. Die Antwoord is composed of South Africa artists, Ninja, Yo-Landi Vi$$er and DJ Hi-Tek. Their sound has a catchy modern day pop like presence, mashing both hip hop and new rave elements. They put out their video “Enter The Ninja” last year which became a viral phenomenon on the internet delivering millions of hits to the official Die Antwoord website.

The flash website features their music and some great photographs of the artists. The photographer did a great job capturing their angst and oddity. Check out the secret CHAMBER, its a great usage of flash utilizing video captures, animations and sound, very simple and cool. Its been rumored that Die Antwoord has signed with Interscope, and District 9 helmer Neill Blomkamp plans to direct their next music video. It’s possible they will be performing at the next Coachella festival. I wonder what type of longevity their music will have, but for now its great to let off some steam with their rave rap antics.

Introducing the world of Die Antwoord.

They have a nice website but these guys are a couple of jokers, LOL. Haircuts are tragic. I need to copy that Richie Rich tattoo though.

I agree DJM! Die Antwoord performs “Zef” music, Zef being an Afrikaans term which loosely translates to the American equivalent of Redneck. They are laughing their A$$’s off right to the bank. Their form of rave-rap is what the new generation is into. I find them to be quite interesting, creative and entertaining.
