Pen Pencil Stencil

Pen Pencil Stencil is the studio and workspace of designer Mark Giglio. I came across Mark’s site while I was doing some R&D for my own personal toy ventures. Mark created a line of kokeshi toys which are pretty cool. Kokeshi are traditional Japanese dolls, originally from northern Japan. They are handmade from wood, have a simple trunk and an enlarged head with a few thin, painted lines to define the face. One characteristic of kokeshi dolls is their lack of arms or legs. Mark’s kokeshis are decorated with elaborate geometric patterns, which compliment the non traditional shapes. Each kokeshi is turned from a piece of scrap wood.

I especially like the The Mini Forest of Woods.
The Mini Forest of Woods is a limited edition nine piece set of various types of scrap wood turned into a forest.
The Kokeshi tops are also pretty cool. While Mark was designing the head shapes for his kokeshi series, he thought it would be cool if some of them could spin. So he made a limited edition mini head tops.

Mark has a great eye for design check out the rest of his work at:
