Designers take note, if you decide to bite your peers, you will eventually get caught and you will find your name and work placed on the internet for all to see. You thought we wouldn’t notice exposes creative theives in all there glory. It’s a reminder that there are a bunch of individuals ripping off creative work and calling it there own. Originality is hard to achieve, since at this point in time we have pretty much seen everything. But there is no excuse to steal someone else’s hard work and claim it as your own.
If you need some inspiration, go take a walk, go for a long car ride, hang out in the Tenderloin and you can come up with a few ideas of your own. Shred some paper, photo copy your face, splatter some ketchup on the floor and you may surprisingly spark your creativity.
It also features local San Francisco artists who have either been ripped off or done some ripping on their own. I was actually stunned to see Sam Flores being exposed, but hey I guess some get lazy and forget that there are collectors who invest in originality and not blatant rip offs. Knowing Sam, in his defense, he was caught slipping, I’m sure he has learned his lesson, and probably realized that Jon Foster is more than an illustrator with a cult following.
